Certifying execution time in multicores

چکیده
This article presents a semantics-based program verification framework for critical embedded real-time systems using the worst-case execution time (WCET) as the safety parameter. The verification algorithm is designed to run on devices with limited computational resources where efficient resource usage is a requirement. For this purpose, the framework of abstract-carrying code (ACC) is extended with an additional verification mechanism for linear programming (LP) by applying the certifying properties of duality theory to check the optimality of WCET estimates. Further, the WCET verification approach preserves feasibility and scalability when applied to multicore architectural models. The certifying WCET algorithm is targeted to architectural models based on the ARM instruction set and is presented as a particular instantiation of a compositional data-flow framework supported on the theoretic foundations of denotational semantics and abstract interpretation. The data-flow framework has algebraic properties that provide algorithmic transformations to increase verification efficiency, mainly in terms of verification time. The WCET analysis/verification on multicore architectures applies the formalism of latency-rate (LR) servers, and proves its correcteness in the context of abstract interpretation, in order to ease WCET estimation of programs sharing resources.

Optimization of Asymmetric and Heterogeneous MultiCore
An analytical optimization model, based on Lagrange multipliers, allocates constrained area and power among the cores of either asymmetric or heterogeneous multicore so as to optimize execution time. While in the asymmetric multicore each one of the concurrent workload task may execute on any core, concurrent tasks are pre-assigned to cores in the heterogeneous case. The performance of each cor...

Logic Programming languages, such as Prolog, provide an excellent framework for the parallel execution of logic programs. In particular, the inherent non-determinism in the way logic programs are structured makes Prolog very attractive for the exploitation of implicit parallelism. One of the most noticeable sources of implicit parallelism in Prolog programs is or-parallelism. Or-parallelism ari...

Heterogeneous multicores have been attracting much attention to attain high performance keeping power consumption low in wide spread of areas. However, heterogeneous multicores force programmers very difficult programming. The long application program development period lowers product competitiveness. In order to overcome such a situation, this paper proposes a compilation framework which bridg...
متن کاملConvex Optimization of Resource Allocation in Asymmetric and Heterogeneous MultiCores
Chip area, power consumption, execution time, off-chip memory bandwidth, overall cache miss rate and Network on Chip (NoC) capacity are limiting the scalability of Chip Multiprocessors (CMP). Consider a workload comprising a sequential and multiple concurrent tasks and asymmetric or heterogeneous multicore architecture. A convex optimization framework is proposed, for selecting the optimal set ...
